(Update – As of 12/19, you can stream the album for free here)
The album, Let’s Go Eat the Factory, is a return to the classic “lo-fi” mid-90s lineup and sound. In 2011, the lineup reunited to tour with GBV constant, prolific singer/songwriter, Robert Pollard. The “classic” lineup was assembled in Dayton, OH and eventually signed to Matador Records, but dissolved after completing Under the Bushes, Under the Stars. Pollard then surrounded himself with other rock veterans to move forward with the GBV moniker, ultimately retiring it in 2004 before reuniting and touring this year.
Details for purchasing the album can be found at www.gbv.com. The first single of the album is “The Unsinkable Fats Domino.”

Another GBV note: if you are looking for a winter break read or even a gift for an eclectic music fan, you could do worse than considering the book “Guided by Voices: A Brief History: Twenty-One Years of Hunting Accidents in the Forests of Rock and Roll.” The book features a forward by Steven Soderbergh and is an enjoyable read. Author James Greer combines interesting stories about the band and their myth while avoiding the banality that is prevalent in many rock books.
